What hasn't been nominated for the Cybils in elementary/middle grade sci fi/fantasy--a long list
I've taken down this list of books that hadn't yet been nominated in elementary/middle grade sci fi/fantasy for the Cybils Awards; nominations are now closed.
I have a feeling that there are quite a number of people still holding their cards close to their chests (looks up at the ceiling and whistles). I'm not that worried about young Nathaniel....
But boy will I be glad when the nominations close, and I stop checking every half hour to see if anything new has shown up!
There are some lovely books on this list, and they should be nominated! Apart from Nathaniel Fludd, I would love to see Come Fall on the list, and The Puzzle Ring, all of the Ranger's Apprentice books (kids love them), and Toby. And and and. Thanks for the reminder, Charlotte! I'll just send people over here....
Wow, what a list! I'm going to tweet this. The Secret Zoo isn't eligible, because it was previously published in 2007, and in fact was a Cybils nominee in that year.
Do you think Lord Sunday is middle grade? I confess I've always thought of the series as YA, because of the complexity, and the sophistication of the humor and subtle references.
Oh Charlotte, be my hero and do one for YA too! Especially for any of POC (I know a few people who would jump all over that). And I won't look at your cards if you don't look at mine. ;)
I was going by Amazon for Lord Sunday, Sheila; I've only read the first few books in the series, and although they were indeed complicated, I don't think they are more so than other mg books...
I won't be able to do a YA list in time, Heather--this mg list was a rather long process! But I hope you get more POC books nominated.
Doret and Kate--the day is still young. We can hope!
Lord Sunday! At long last!
ReplyDeleteBut - it strikes me as weird that the Nathan Fludd's haven't been nominated. What's up with that???

Thanks for remind me. What a great list and so many books I haven't read.

ReplyDeleteCharlotte you can cross Celia's Robot off your list. I just nominated it.
ReplyDeleteI have my fingers crossed that someone will nominate Blimpo.
If only we had votes but then I'd probably want three.
oh please please please can someone nominate 'The Puzzle Ring'? Please? Thank you, Charlotte, for even thinking of me!
