And here's a teaser of a review from the Times Online (UK not NY) about two mg fantasy books that aren't out here in the US yet--The 13 Curses, by Michelle Harrison, and Rebel, by R.J. Anderson. Both are sequels, to The 13 Treasures and Knife, aka Fairy Rebels, respectively. The 13 Treasures, which won the Waterstone Children's Book Prize last year, will be released here in the US by Little Brown in March (and I just picked up an ARC of it at ALA!)
Speaking of the Waterstone Children's Book Prize, here are the books shortlisted this year, winner to be announced Feb. 10.
And speaking of ALA (the American Library Association), I went up to Boston yesterday and spent a very happy time in the exhibits hall, squeeing left and right as my bags grew heavier (mainly with middle grade fantasy--The Magic Thief: Found (coming in June); Dragonbreath: Attack of the Ninja Frogs (coming February); A Wizard of Mars, by Diane Duane (coming in April), and lots lots more...).

ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning my review. I'm super jealous of your visit to ALA. I'm dying to get to a conference, but it seems that they are always too far away. East coast is not possible for me and my schedule (and my pocket book) right now. Though, I am hoping for DC this summer. I can always dream, right?
