A bit late...but here are my Christmas present books!
Loveliness. And I got two more for my birthday this week--another Ann Lawrence, and the new Patricia McKillip. Now all I need is time...and I really need to stop diverting myself during breaks at work by visiting the library on-line and requesting far too many books.
And here are the books my husband got:
The cider book was a hopeful surprise purchase...and happily it was his favorite book of the lot. We have eight young apple trees, and hopes of making our own cider some year. He also got the fiftieth aniversy edition of the Weirdstone of Brisingamen, by Alan Garner, a lovely book that arrived to late to be in the pile.

Hooray for Christmas books! And while the new McKillip book meandered a little, I liked it and think you should read it.
ReplyDeleteSo nice. I love getting and giving books for Christmas. I gave my daughter Peter Pan and Tales of the Arabian Nights, and received a fine trilogy from my husband. Such nice, neat packages!
ReplyDeleteI love getting and giving books for Christmas! I received On Writing by Stephen King and a Borders gift card. My kids also got Borders gift cards so I can't wait to take a family trip there to pick out books!
ReplyDeleteYay for Christmas/birthday books! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about some of these, at least.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing great things about that Connie Willis I see poking out in the back. I should revisit her, as I haven't read any since my beloved Doomsday Book...
ReplyDeleteAll Clear! I just read it.
ReplyDeleteActually, I haven't celebrated Christmas yet, but I'm hoping for at least one book.
I love receiving gift cards for bookstores for Christmas. My main gift for this year was a kindle, so now amazon gift cards will be a favorite also.
ReplyDeleteI also check out to many books from the library.
books are the best, whether they come wrapped or as cards or, I guess, electronically!
ReplyDeleteAnd I like giving them, because they are easy to wrap and one can do it nicely without wasting paper!
Merry Xmas! I got NO books, but I did get a gift card. I think they've given up on me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely copy of Grimm's!
ReplyDeleteThis is not book related but I note your tree has what appears to be the metal "icicles" that are twisted with color on one side...what memories flooded over me as I saw those! My grandmother had sets of those we young girls always put on her tree as we decorated with her. Do you know any place that has them now or are yours an old set? Loved the array of books you and your husband got...and belated Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThe icicles are relativly new--within the last 10 years, I'd say. I think we might have just happened on them at the local hardware store (Cherrydale Hardware off Lee Highway in Arlington)....so I can't be of any use to you! But if I happen to see them in the future, I will try to remember to tell you!
