I'm in great company today over at The Book Smugglers, talking about childhood favorites along with Heidi of Bunbury in the Stacks, Angie of Angieville, Elizabeth Burns of A Chair, A Fireplace and a Tea Cozy, and Ana of Things Mean A Lot.
It was hard just picking five books, but I did:
The Little White Horse, by Elizabeth Goudge
Marianne Dreams, by Catherine Storr
A String in the Harp, by Nancy Bond
The Little Broomstick, by Mary Stewart
Tom Ass, by Ann Lawrence
Thanks for inviting me, Ana and Thea!
Oh my goodness, now I must read A String in the Harp, which I happened to pick up at the library sale thinking it sounded like a Charlotte book. I can already attest to the goodness of the others!
ReplyDeleteNow I am off to consider my own list. It has at least one in common with yours, I think....
I hope you like String!
DeleteThank YOU! : D
ReplyDeleteI haven't read ANY of your favorites! I feel woefully illiterate, even though I know that's miles from the truth. Headed over to check out the post!
ReplyDeleteWell, all but one of mine are English books, which would have been hard to find over here, so its not your fault!!!
DeleteI love 'The Little Broomstick' too!
ReplyDeleteI've add a copy of the 'A String in the Harp' for a long time but haven't read it yet!
Cheryl
Yay for L.B.! So unappreciated by the masses.
DeleteI hope you like String!
I can see you adoring String, but it was soooooo loooong! Reading this made me think of Margaret J. Anderson's In the Circle of Time, which I bought in middle school and reread many times. I don't think I've seen you review it, but you would like!
ReplyDeleteIt was long???? huh.
DeleteI've never heard of Circle of Time, but I'll look for it--thanks!
A String in the Harp is the only one of these I've read, and I've been thinking I really ought to reread it.
ReplyDeleteah gee, if you ever get a chance to read the other (Little White Horse should be pretty find-able) do! I bet you'd like them.
