A Better World is Possible: Global Youth Confront the Climate Crisis

A Better World Is Possible: Global Youth Confront the Climate Crisis, by Meera Subramanian and Danica Novgorodoff (March 3, 2026 by First Second), is a beautifully illustrated graphic presentation of young people taking action against global warming.   It is both a call to arms, with specific examples of what young people can do, the personal stories of a group of young people from diverse backgrounds doing those things, and a clear presentation of the history and science of climate change.

Every beat hits just right, and with the interesting information (both biographical and scientific) delivered clearly and engagingly, and coupled with very appealing illustrations, the book is a page turner on first reading (in large part because the individual stories, which offer personal global perspectives) and one to linger over in later re-reads.   And though the situation is grim, the tone is ultimately hopeful, and specifically address how to combat despair.

A perfect Earth Day book for teens, and one many adults would also do well to read!  Much as I enjoyed it (especially the biographical sections), I'll put it in my local free library because my neighborhood sure could use more climate activism.
