We meet the two feathered protagonists, Tenders and Nugget, imprisoned in a super secret lab. But when Dr. Dipping-Sauce accidentally gives them Super-Smart serum instead of the Super-Big serum that's part of the evil plan to develop a chicken army, they escape! Hurrying through a warren of insane scientific experiments, they find the Super Secret Time Travel Lab, where the time bucket is just about to be launched to the late Cretaceous. Our heroes hop in...and find that T. Rex, although a relative, would like to eat them. And Dr. Dipping-Sauce is pursuing them through time...
Various time travel, dinosaur, and mad science shenanigans change the course of history, and the chickens win!
This would be a great pick for the young sci fi loving child. It is nuts, but has enough cohesion to make for a gripping story. Cheering for the chickens is lots of fun! And as a gateway to future reading involving the mental gymnastics of time travel, in which timelines and the whole trajectory of the future can be altered, it's top notch.
