After a fall of intense reading and discussion, us 1st round panelists for the Elementary/Middle Grade Speculative Fiction Cybils Awards had to pick just 7 books to move forward as finalists. It was painful to leave books we loved behind, but we were able to agree on our 7 choices that embodied the Cybils Awards cirteria of literary excellence and audience appeal (aka really well-written books kids will love!).
